Kristin Winkens from RWTH Aachen Germany on Resilience with Neil Cooke and Natalie Wint Discussion…
Mike Murphy had an extensive industrial career, in the United States and Ireland. This experience brought him to become the Executive Dean for Engineering & Built Environment at TU Dublin, where he put in practice significant management skills. Later, he let SEFI harvest the fruits of these skills when he was the chair of the European Engineering Deans Council, Vice-president, and then President.
During his presidency, Mike ensured the continued development of the SEFI’s Working Groups, called them SIGs, as a vibrant forum for its members to participate and collaborate. For him was vital to ensure the continuity of SEFI’s activities and the willingness to do something that requires continuous effort to monitor what is happening and to find out which activities are on the right track, which ones are facing some issues, and what help can be provided.
After his presidency, he has been a mentor for his successors and actively continued to work with SEFI. Even today he is deeply involved in the transition of SEFI’s headquarters. As a cherry on the cake, he will host the next SEFI conference at his home university, TU Dublin!
