A-STEP 2030 WEBINAR
Engineering Education for Building a Sustainable Future
The partners in the A-STEP 2030 Erasmus+ project (Strategic partnership for educational innovation and shared good practices) organised a Webinar on Friday the 27th August 2021 between 10.00-12.00 am (CET) to present the outcomes of their three-year research project in engineering education, which included three Intellectual Outputs and culminated in a Summer School.
After a short introduction of the A-STEP 2030 objectives and activities by Klara Kövesi (project coordinator, ENSTA Bretagne, Brest, France), the outcomes from European focus groups studies were presented by Una Beagon (TU Dublin, Dublin, Ireland): “What competences do engineering students need to support the achievement of the SDGs?“. Following a short Q/A session, the presentation of Riitta Lehtinen (Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki, Finland), “What factors influence the young generation’s career choices?” outlined the most relevant findings of a large European quantitative study. Bente Nørgaard’s (Aalborg Univesity, Aalborg, Denmark) presentation of the “Mapping of existing practices and diverse pedagogical approaches” provided interesting details of a European mapping approach. Then, Una Beagon presented the novel learning and teaching activity tested in the A-STEP 2030 Summer School. Following, Johannes Spaas (BEST, Brussels, Belgium) presented the “The students’ experience of the A-STEP 2030 Summer School” based on the feedback and testimony of participating students. Finally, Klara Kövesi was talking about “Future perspectives” related to the findings and recommendations of the project.
