SEFI President visits Stevens Institute of Technology

The SEFI President Mike Murphy, and the ASEE President Stephanie Farrell recently had the honour to return to Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, where they both earned postgraduate degrees.  Their visit was at the invitation of President Nariman Farvardin of Stevens.  Stevens Institute of Technology is a leading private research university on a beautiful campus directly across the Hudson River from mid-town Manhattan (www.stevens.edu).

Stevens was founded in 1870 as a rigorous engineering college.  Under President Farvardin’s leadership it continues to transform and is very highly ranked in terms of the quality of its graduates.  During the visit, President Farvardin described his vision for Stevens, his focus on being student-centred, the capital programme, and the multi-disciplinary research pillars which the university pursues.  President

Mike and Stephanie were hosted during their visit by Jean Zu, Dean of Schaefer School of Engineering and Science and the School leadership team.  Throughout the day, they explored the opportunities and potential offered through engineering education.

As a uniquely situated university, Stevens continues to seek international partners for academic and research collaboration.
