We at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford, are excited to become a part of SEFI, the European Society of Engineering Education. With a proud history of over a century of engineering education, rooted in nearly a millennium of global academic excellence at Oxford, our department is dedicated to advancing the field of engineering education.
Our general engineering degree program spans multiple disciplines, reflecting an immersive and integrated approach to engineering that has been a cornerstone of our tradition since our foundation in 1908. This legacy of educating exceptional engineers and conducting cutting-edge research continues to thrive today.
Currently, our Head of the Teaching and Research Design Support Group (TDSG), Dr. Nikita Hari is leading the research on systems-based approach to ‘Pedagogy, Policy, Practice, People, and Places’ in engineering education, focusing on scalability and sustainability in collaboration with UK engineering HE leaders.
One of our most significant initiatives for the immediate future is the overhaul of our undergraduate program, aimed at providing a holistic engineering learning journey whilst preparing the next generation of engineers to meet the challenges of the future.
We look forward to contributing to and learning from the amazing SEFI community, sharing best practices, and driving forward the future of engineering education together.
