During the first week of November 4-10th November, took place the 69th ESTIEM Council Meeting…
Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to launch our global “Caring for the Future: Empathy in Engineering Education” project, aiming to create a community of educators and researchers who are passionate about educating the next generation of engineers. Engineers, who are globally aware professionals and who have the capacity to broaden their concerns and empathise with others in an increasingly divided and unstable world.
The inaugural event will be a webinar, the first of a monthly series, and we are delighted that Nicki Sochacka agreed to present her work “Reflections on a decade of studying and teaching empathy in STEM education”. The webinar will be on Wednesday 22 February at 15:30 EST/20:30 GMT (https://virginiatech.zoom.us/j/3278506601). The session will be recorded and made available to colleagues who are not able to attend.
The monthly webinar time is not fixed as we plan to accommodate presenters and audiences from around the globe. The webinar on February 22nd is honouring our presenter Nicki who will be joining live from Australia. Future webinars will showcase the work and research interests of colleagues with diverse disciplinary backgrounds.
We would like to kindly ask you to express your interest in the webinars, or if you would like to be informed of similar events, by emailing either one of us at dibairak@vt.edu or i.direito@ucl.ac.uk that we can include you in the project listserv.
We sincerely hope to see many of you at our first webinar on February 22nd at 15:30 EST/20:30 GMT – https://virginiatech.zoom.us/j/3278506601
Warm regards,
