Due to her meritorious service to engineering education, Professor Şirin Tekinay, was awarded with the SEFI Fellowship Award 2022!
Professor Şirin Tekinay holds a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from George Mason University, Virginia, and an MS and BS degree in Electrical-Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, and has recently completed two terms as a member of the SEFI Board of directors. She initiated and contributed to many SEFI activities, most notably, the Susan Ihsen Best Paper Award Program, the Maffioli Award, and relations with Global Engineering Deans Council, just to name a few, as well as her contribution to SEFI relations with Global Engineering Deans Council.
Currently, she is an Electrical and Computer Engineering professor specializing in communications. She has held posts as Dean of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Vice President for Research and Development, and President, in Turkey and in the United Arab Emirates. In addition to her core area of research and teaching, she has focused on different aspects of Higher Education and Engineering Education, such as diversity with particular emphasis on women in engineering, professional identity, multi-disciplinarity in teaching and research, design thinking and convergence research, technology-based learning platforms, sustainability, and engineering for peace.
