Regional GEDC Industry Forum
20-22 March 2019 – Bucharest, Romania
GEDC Industry Forum – Developing the next generation of engineering experts and leaders
Building on the immense success of the 2017 global Industry Forum, the first regional GEDC (Global Engineering Deans Council) Industry Forum is taking place in Bucharest, Romania from Wednesday 20th to Friday 22nd March 2019. This invitation-only, highly interactive event will focus on stimulating innovation through bringing together universities and industry, and tackling the growing gap in digital and scarce skills as well as developing key graduate employability skills, including intra-/entrepreneurship skills.
A unique gathering of industry and academia
Engineering leaders, Deans from the region and the GEDC global network, leading regional employers and representatives from global companies are gathering over 3 days for exchange and innovation on these critical issues in a unique, interactive, invitation only event. The Industry Forum presents an opportunity to leverage collective knowledge and experience whilst developing an influential and meaningful dialogue.
The programme
Designed and facilitated by the award-winning team at Petrus, the Forum’s programme kicks off on Wednesday 20th March with a late afternoon expert panel and networking reception, followed by a day of discussion and creative group work on Thursday 21st March facilitated by renowned specialists. Social and networking opportunities will be followed by dinner and dialogue. Conclusions, with a strong focus on next steps, will be presented the following morning with departures on Friday 22nd March after lunch. Opportunities for relevant cultural and industrial visits in the region will also be available.
Why Central and Eastern Europe?
The first regional GEDC Industry Forum will be held in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), one of the fastest growing regions in Europe. A longtime engineering powerhouse, CEE today has the potential to become a global innovation hub as the countries in the region transition to knowledge-intensive economies. To facilitate innovation in CEE, which is ‘an economic necessity’, more collaboration between universities, businesses, and other local, national, and regional stakeholders is needed. These factors make the region a perfect location for this event, which will inspire and develop regional university-industry relations.
A vibrant, award-winning location in the heart of Bucharest
Activity will take place at the Athenee Palace Hilton Bucharest hotel, one of the city’s most sophisticated and prestigious landmarks dating back to 1914. The organising team will assist you with local transportation if needed and can suggest meetings or educational visits to leverage your stay in Romania as well as answering any question you might have about the event.
Who should attend the 2019 GEDC Industry Forum?
Senior representatives of engineering and technology employers, from global industry or dynamic start-ups and SMEs, alongside engineering leaders, Deans and R&D Directors. The €295 attendance fee covers all activities and meals; delegates should cover their own travel and accommodation expenses.
